Education

Medical School: 91ɫƵ
Undergraduate: Lincoln University
Graduate: Duke University

Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica

Hobbies & interests: I enjoy taking contemporary and hip-hop dance classes. Also, since the pandemic I can now take classes online from two of my favorite choreographers, Brian Friedman and Alex Chung. Staying up to date with collegiate and professional track and field. Watching swim meets, soccer (Go FC Barcelona!) and football (Go Giants!). Cooking Jamaican food, especially curry chicken, curry goat and Ackee and salt fish which is Jamaica's national dish.

Why I chose 91ɫƵ: I attended 91ɫƵ for medical school and had the opportunity to interact with several of the residents and faculty as a medical student. I could see how invested the faculty were in the residents and how much they advocated for them. Residents also felt comfortable going to faculty if there were any concerns. I knew that coming to 91ɫƵ for residency, I would be supported by my faculty and co-residents which is something I was looking for in a program.

What 91ɫƵ has to offer a candidate: 91ɫƵ is the only level 1 trauma center in Milwaukee which gives us the opportunity to see complex cases and high-volume trauma. We also rotate at the VA, Children's Wisconsin and in the community which diversifies our training and prepares our graduates for success post-residency. Finally, the graduated surgical autonomy is second to none and is a testament to the hands-on experience the residents get beginning intern year.

What I like about living in Milwaukee: There is so much to do in Milwaukee. I enjoy trying new restaurants and Milwaukee has a great food scene. During the summer, there are tons of festivals and events to attend. I also enjoy attending sporting events and tickets for Brewers and Bucks games are very affordable. If you enjoy hiking, there are great hiking trails within 30 minutes from Milwaukee.
