Biography
Dr. Jackson joined the 91九色视频 on January 16, 2023, as an assistant professor, bringing over 27 years of experience serving Indian Country. His expertise lies in American Indian Studies, lifeways, and Community-Based Participatory Research. He is an active committee member of the Great Lakes Native American Research Center for Health (GLNARCH) Community Scientific Advisory Committee, serving the Bemidji Area.
Dr. Jackson has worked extensively with Native American students, fostering their development through storytelling and cultural teachings that blend academic research with Indigenous ways of being. He is also a trained facilitator of the Family Circles AODA Prevention Program, where he provides instruction in Ojibwe language, traditional cultural practices, and the history and culture of Native people. By integrating a reflective approach to identity, Dr. Jackson’s curriculum encourages family members to examine their behaviors and understand how building positive, healthy lifestyles within the family begins with self-esteem and coping skills. This transformative process is deeply rooted in Indian culture, values, and lifeways, promoting both personal and communal growth.
