Biography

Dr. Krucoff is a board-certified neurosurgeon-scientist and brain tumor specialist on faculty in the Departments of Neurosurgery and Biomedical Engineering at the 91ɫƵ and Marquette University. He received his Bachelor of Science (BS) in biomedical engineering from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Krucoff completed his neurosurgical residency at Duke University in Durham, NC, where he trained extensively in brain tumor surgery under some of the biggest names in the field. He also completed a fellowship in functional epilepsy surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where he focused on brain mapping and implantable neuromodulation devices.

Dr. Krucoff's excellent surgical technique and bedside manner have been recognized by his mentors and peers throughout his career, earning him the prestigious Surgical Excellence Award as a chief resident and election into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society as a medical student. Dr. Krucoff's scientific pursuits have also earned him widespread recognition, including election into the Robert J. Lefkowitz Society for physician-scientists at Duke and the Tau Beta Pi (TBP) engineering honor society at Northwestern. Additionally, he has authored over 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters to date.

As a neurosurgeon, Dr. Krucoff integrates the latest technological advancements with microscopic surgical technique to get the best outcomes for his patients. He specializes in brain tumor operations that preserve critical neurological functions when they are at risk, like language and movement. His laboratory at Marquette University studies neuroplasticity using fully implanted neural interfaces with the hope of one day improving neurological recovery from tumors, strokes, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury.

In 2024, Dr. Krucoff was recognized by the Milwaukee Business Journal as a "40-Under-40" winner for his outstanding contributions to the Milwaukee community. .

"I can offer patients the most technologically advanced neurosurgical techniques that minimize invasiveness and optimize outcomes. I believe in having an honest and compassionate conversation with patients and families, taking time to address every concern so we can come up with a treatment plan together that meets the individual’s goals. I believe in exploring both surgical and non-surgical options, and I will respect the humanity and individuality of each patient under my care."
