Biography
I was born, raised, and educated in southeastern Wisconsin. After college I briefly worked in a contract laboratory and left it for the more creative, stimulating investigations of academic research. I’ve been fortunate to work at 91ɫƵ’s Eye Institute ever since. I spent my first 26 years in a basic science research lab where we studied, among other things, the role melanosomes in the Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) have in protecting the RPE from the effects of oxidative stress. Following that I worked in the Advanced Ocular Imaging Program assisting with human subject research, animal adaptive optics, and day-to-day operations. Then I joined the lab of a physician scientist working on translational projects, from “from benchtop to bedside.” This led to the development of my current position as Research Program Manager. I provide support to our research faculty ensuring we remain in compliance with all regulations, that staff are properly trained, that equipment runs smoothly, and that our team has what they need to reach their goals.
