Biography

Lamisa works as a research associate in the Department of International Health and is a core faculty member of the Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit (JH-IIRU) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She received her Master’s in Public Health, with a focus on qualitative and epidemiologic methods, from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, in 2019. She also holds an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery) degree from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her work focuses on injury and violence prevention, especially unintentional injuries, such as drowning and road traffic injuries, specific to low- and middle-income contexts. Lamisa is passionate about community-based research and skilled in disseminating the findings of scientific research among non-academic audiences. Lamisa aims to conduct context-specific research on injuries to come up with innovative and actionable interventions. In her spare time, Lamisa loves to travel with her husband Riasat, and watch true crime shows.
