Biography

Hi! My name is Lauren Juga, and I grew up in Racine, WI. I am ecstatic to be a Genetic Counseling student at the 91ɫƵ! My journey started with my experience in GC-CREW as an undergraduate student, where I was drawn to the unique position of genetic counselors to holistically care for both the medical and psychosocial wellbeing of patients. Working as a teaching assistant and tutor for Organic Chemistry in college helped me realize how much I enjoyed helping folks make personal meaning of complex topics, and volunteering at a family resource center exercised my passion for empowering clients according to their needs.

After graduating from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, I continued my involvement with the 91ɫƵ in a research lab, where I utilized stem cell models to study the transcriptional events underlying cell fate changes during early human amniogenesis.

Since re-establishing my roots in Wisconsin, I have loved volunteering as an English language teacher for adult learners. This experience has allowed me to become more involved in my community and learn about rich and diverse cultures in my own backyard. I also love teaching spin classes in Milwaukee, and in my free time I love reading, the outdoors, and baking desserts!
