Biography
Hello! My name is Zoë Culshaw-Klein, and I am from Maplewood, Minnesota. I graduated from the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University in May 2022 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Psychology. I discovered my passion for genetic counseling in high school, and it has been my goal ever since!
During my time at CSB/SJU, I played four years of collegiate hockey and served as the Student Athlete President. Outside of hockey and academics, I volunteered at a memory care unit, working one-on-one with a former St. Benedict sister. I was also a member of the “Active Minds” club to promote mental health awareness among students.
After graduation, I dedicated my “growth years” to volunteering at a crisis counseling text line for LGBTQ+ youth and worked as a genomic lab technician, where I extracted DNA and prepared samples for testing. I also had the rewarding experience of coaching hockey and lacrosse at my former high school, applying the counseling skills I developed as a crisis counselor. These experiences solidified my desire to become a genetic counselor.
In my free time, I love exercising- whether running, weightlifting, yoga, or playing hockey! I also enjoy watching and attending sporting events, spending time with friends and family, embroidering and doing anything artsy, watching a good romcom, and enjoying the outdoors! I am thrilled to be a part of 91ɫƵ’s fourth cohort and excited for the adventures and experiences these next 21 months will bring!
