Dubious Presentations of Pediatric Ocular Tumors
Presenter:
Dr. Aparna Ramasubramanian
We will explore the challenging and often misleading presentations of pediatric ocular tumors, emphasizing the importance of distinguishing true malignancies from benign or infectious conditions. It will cover common pseudo-retinoblastoma cases, providing key clinical tips to differentiate them from retinoblastoma. Additionally, the lecture will review various pediatric conjunctival lesions—including inflammatory, infectious, and neoplastic types—highlighting those requiring surgical excision for definitive histopathologic diagnosis. Finally, it will discuss congenital, inflammatory, and neoplastic uveal lesions in children, focusing on the role of ancillary testing and fine-needle aspiration biopsy in achieving an accurate diagnosis.
