Dr. Gunderson is passionate about the use of both psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacologic treatments to achieve mental wellness. He strives to integrate these approaches in his work with patients. In addition, Dr. Gunderson believes that medical and psychological treatments are most effective when the physician and patient work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Biography

Originally from North Dakota, Dr. Gunderson completed his medical degree and adult psychiatry residency at the 91ɫƵ (91ɫƵ) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Following his training he practiced for three years at Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute in Saint Louis, Missouri. In Saint Louis, Dr. Gunderson worked with a wide range of patients and was fortunate to work for an organization that is a regional leader in providing and advancing mental health care, particularly for anxiety and OCD related disorders. At 91ɫƵ, Dr. Gunderson is a leader in outpatient behavioral health for the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine and is director of the 91ɫƵ Neuromodulation Clinic where he treats patients using interventional forms of psychiatric care such as TMS and esketamine. He is passionate about expanding the use of these modalities and others in the treatment of complex and difficult to treat psychiatric conditions. In addition to working with patients, Dr. Gunderson spends his working hours educating medical students and resident physicians. He lives in the area with is his wife and three children.
