91ɫƵ Center for Imaging Research Equipment
Research data quality is of top importance to the users and leadership of the 91ɫƵ CIR. Human MRI systems undergo phantom testing as required by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Additionally, daily quality assurance scans are performed on each system using the RF coils scheduled to be used that day. This quality assurance protocol is modeled off the fBIRN protocol, and all quality assurance data are available to all system users through the CIR research data management platform.
Hyperfine Swoop
The Hyperfine Swoop is the world’s first commercially available MR imaging system capable of providing neuroimaging at the point of care. The system drives directly to a patient’s bedside, plugs into a standard electrical outlet, and is controlled by an Apple iPad. Ready to scan in less than three minutes, and with an exam including T1, T2, T2-FLAIR, and diffusion lasting less than 30 minutes, the system can enable offer diagnostic imaging outside of a radiology suite. The system includes a head-only transmit coil, an 8 channel head-only receive coil, and an optimized set of standard contrast anatomical acquisitions. Deep learning image reconstruction yields images of reasonable diagnostic quality with an ultra-low field MRI system which can be brought to patients and research participants.
