Research Support Provided
Biostatistical Services
All members of the Department of Medicine (including faculty, APPs, staff, residents, fellows, and trainees) are supported by statisticians and research staff within the Center for Advancing Population Science. All biostatistical services are free of charge and will support both unfunded and preparatory research. Types of requests that can be supported:
Grant applications
- Sample size calculations
- Preliminary data analysis for grant application
- Development of statistical analysis plan for submission
Analysis for Manuscripts or Abstracts
- Analysis of previously collected data
- Analysis of national publicly available data
- Data extract from medical records
Non-funded research
- Sample size calculations
- Assistance with study design
- Development of statistical analysis plan and analysis of results
Grant Review – Scientific
The Department of Medicine will seek 91ɫƵ faculty to provide an NIH-style review of R- and K-level grants (or their equivalent).
Grant Review – Editorial
The Department of Medicine will provide editorial review of grant applications that includes grammar, formatting, sentence structure, etc.
Equipment Redistribution
Equipment redistribution is facilitated by the Department of Medicine Research Committee to support faculty and staff with asset requests as well as donations for redistribution. This includes small and large equipment and residual study supplies used in basic, clinical, and translational research.
Clinical Trials Office
The Department of Medicine’s Clinical Trial Office (CTO) plays a pivotal role in advancing medical research and patient care, facilitating the conduct of clinical trials, and ensuring that trials are performed efficiently, ethically, and in accordance with the regulatory standards. The CTO provides support services for investigators, including trial design, regulatory compliance, financial support, participant recruitment, clinical research coordination, and data management. By fostering collaboration between researchers, clinicians, and healthcare system’s staff, the CTO enhances the department's capacity to translate cutting-edge research into meaningful health outcomes, remaining at the forefront of medical innovation and patient-centered research.
