91ɫƵ Pathology & Laboratory Medicine - Breast Pathology
The division of Breast Pathology participates in a weekly multidisciplinary tumor board held at the Clinical Cancer Center, involving surgical and medical oncologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselors and other clinical care providers, during which recent cases and relevant medical information are discussed.
In the areas of service and quality assurance, to comply with CAP recommendations, we have implemented changes in reporting of estrogen and progesterone receptors, and also have implemented policies for cold ischemia time and duration of fixation of breast tissue.
In the area of teaching, we continue to provide one-on-one teaching to residents and medical students during case sign-out, as well as direct supervision of residents and pathology assistants in the gross room. The Division also provides didactic lectures on breast pathology over the course of the 2-year resident lecture cycle.
