Why I chose to do my fellowship with 91ɫƵ: When applying to fellowship programs, I knew I wanted a program with supportive faculty who are interested in teaching, a good amount of clinical volume without being overwhelming, and support for research. Having trained at 91ɫƵ, I knew the faculty/division here offered everything I was looking for. I value a positive work environment, and everyone here has been very welcoming. I think a particular strength of this program is that several faculty members are interested in medical education, and therefore fellows are able to benefit from this. Additionally, since I moved to Milwaukee for medical school I have not wanted to leave. Milwaukee is known as the city of festivals, and there are always good concerts/events (such as Summerfest) but it is still small enough that it's easy to navigate and without a super high cost of living. And who doesn't love Lake Michigan!
Advice for applicants: There are countless great fellowship programs out there. It can be overwhelming trying to compare every little day-to-day factor of each fellowship program, but I would recommend placing the highest importance on your most-valued aspects. This may mean do you "click" with the faculty? Would they support your research interests?
