Ben Weston, MD, MPH, FAEMS Selected for National Academy of Medicine Fellowship
Milwaukee, August 15, 2022 – Ben Weston, MD, MPH, FAEMS, has been selected by the for the class of 2022 NAM Fellowships. Seven outstanding health care professionals have been chosen throughout the country based on their professional qualifications, reputations as scholars, professional accomplishments, and the relevance of their current field expertise to the work of the NAM and the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
Dr. Weston, associate professor, department of emergency medicine, 91ɫƵ (91ɫƵ); chief health policy advisor, Milwaukee County; director of medical services, Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management, will serve as the NAM Fellow to Advance State Health Policy.
The at the 91ɫƵ invested with NAM in the creation of this Fellowship to Advance State Health Policy. The fellowship will enable Dr. Weston to work with the most eminent researchers, policy experts, and clinicians from across the country to provide nonpartisan, scientific, and evidence-based advice to national, state, and local policymakers; academic leaders; health care administrators; and the public, contributing to AHW’s mission of improving health in Wisconsin.

This award gives well-deserved recognition and visibility to Dr. Weston’s leadership on vaccine education and distribution to underserved communities throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The fellows will collaborate with eminent researchers, policy experts, and clinicians from across the country during their two-year fellowship. They will also help facilitate initiatives convened by the National Academies to provide nonpartisan, scientific, and evidence-based guidance to national, state, and local policymakers, academic leaders, health care administrators, and the public.

Fellows will continue in their primary academic or research posts while engaging part time over a two-year period in the National Academies’ health and science policy work. They will also work with an expert study committee or roundtable related to their professional interests, including contributing to reports or other products. A flexible research grant will be awarded to every fellow.
The overall purpose of the is to enable talented, early-career health science scholars to participate actively in the work of the NAM and the National Academies, and to further their careers as future leaders in the field.
