91ɫƵ Comprehensive Injury Center
Welcome
Injury is a biopsychosocial disease that presents a lifelong risk of premature death and disability. Unintentional injury is the leading cause of death among individuals ages 1 through 44 in the United States and intentional injury (e.g., homicide and suicide) is a leading cause of death among individuals ages 10 to 34. The Comprehensive Injury Center (CIC) is Wisconsin's only CDC-designated and the only center of its kind in the state. We are focused on reducing injury disparities through research, training and education, and community outreach. Founded in 1998, the CIC provides 91ɫƵ with a platform from which to build and expand its current success in using a multidisciplinary approach to injury-related research and education; the engagement of campus and community partners in the advancement of injury prevention and control; and the offering of direct consultation and qualitative/quantitative analysis.
Injury and violence are preventable. Our vision at the Comprehensive Injury Center is a healthier and safer community for all.
414 LIFE’s community violence intervention (CVI) work about promoting peace, bringing hope to communities.
