Welcome to the 91ɫƵ Department of Surgery – we are so proud of our department and every member of our team who are committed to creating the best place in the world to launch your career in surgery. Our storied tradition of excellence in resident and student education remains a top priority of all faculty. Dr. Elliott Asare and Dr. Douglas Evans

Dr. Evans is in the operating room with Dr. Elliott Asare when he was a surgical chief resident. Dr. Asare went on to complete a fellowship in surgical oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and Elliott is now on the faculty at the University of Utah School of Medicine Department of Surgery.


In Memoriam: John F. Just, MD

Emeritus Clinical Professor of Surgery
August 30, 1935-March 28, 2024

For over 48 years, Dr. Just practiced thoracic surgery and dedicated himself to serving the Milwaukee community and our department of surgery.

As the consummate role model, he imparted his wisdom, work ethic, and love of medicine and surgery to more than 140 residents.

Education

The Department of Surgery offers a Medical Student Program, a General Surgery Residency Program and Fellowships in the following: Clinical Psychology, Endocrine Surgery, Hepatopancreatobiliary, Minimally Invasive/Bariatric Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Trauma/Acute Care Surgery Research and Vascular Surgery.
